Nature Paint outside

Today while we were getting ready to go outside to paint, I thought.. How can I make this more interesting for her? How can I expand on the outdoor painting experience? While gathering our paint and brushes, K grabbed her scissors and asked to cut. That's it! We brought her scissors out as well, and she cut grass, dandelions and lilacs. So we put her cuttings and some mud in cups and mixed them up with paint to creat Nature Paint. :) So simple and fun.

 

 

Coffee filter Poppy flowers for Veteran's Day

 

Happy Veterans Day!

We talked about what Veteran's day is, then we made poppies!

Take 2 coffee filters and paint both sides red. Once dry, line up, fold in half, then in half again.

Holding the folded point, trim the corners off the top. Open up and turn so petals alternate. Poke a hold through the middle with a pipe cleaner. Twist in place. Glue a black pom pom in the middle.

There ya go!

Handprint turkey and Indian for Thanksgiving

 

Today we made handprint turkeys and Indians!

Love teaching her about the holidays. She just turned 3 on Halloween,

and she is very interested in EVERYTHING!! LOL. 

Birthday Bath! (Can't believe she's already 3!!)

 

I wanted to really stress to K how special her birthday is, so to

continue the fun, I made her this birthday bath! I had everything on hand, so it didn't

cost anything extra! First, I added pink food dye to the water. Then I hung up the sign from her

birthday party last year and painted a 3 on the wall. I added some washable kids paint to

shaving cream so that she could make a cake in the pan I saved for play. In the bath, I added a few toys from the dollar store to balloons before I blew them up. I also added a drop of blue food dye to a couple balloons before filling with water for color mixing.

First we cut a tree top out of green paper and used her finger to paint little apples. :)

 

 

Great tip for apple prints - cut a notch in the apple to make

it easier for tiny tots to hold onto!

 

Don't forget to show them the star in the center.(pic below.)

(Apple must be cut horizontally to show the star.)

 

Handprint apples! Paint only the palm red, add stem and leaf with

finger prints!

Sweetened condensed milk paint

Open a can of sweetened condensed milk, add a few drops

of food color and paint! Takes a few days to dry, but dries very shiny.

My 2 year old loved the taste.

I've also heard of people using this paint on sugar cookies. :)

 

Marshmallow painting

A little water or milk, a few drops of food coloring,

and some marshmallows are all you need for this activity!

 

Yup, there's a bite missing from one of them. It's all edible, so it's a great activity for kids!

A New Way to play on a Slip n Slide!

My daughters (2 and 15) played on the slip n slide, but got bored rather quickly.

What could I do to help this activity last longer than 30 minutes?

The light bulb above my head appeared, and I went and grabbed some paint.

Water balloons with a Surprise!

It was another hot day yesterday. For a new spin on an old way to cool off,

I decided to add paint to water balloons for the kids. I put paint in the balloons first,

then filled them with water. My 2 year old wasn't able to pop them, but my 15 year old loved them!
