Fishing for Letters

I took some plastic, magnetic letters and threw them in her kiddie pool.

Then I found a (semi) straight stick, tied string to it, and tied a little magnet to the end of the string.

Then the fun began!

 

Time to "fish" for letters!

 First, I called out letters and had her catch them.

Then she would fish, and tell me what letter she caught.

 

Fun & educational. :) Can't beat that.

What those Sprite & Gummy Bear Popsicles REALLY look like!

If you're on Pinterest, you have more than likely seen the famous

Sprite & Gummy bears popsicle pin floating around.

I agree, they look gorgeous. However, that picture you are looking at

is NOT Sprite and Gummy bears. It is, in fact, soap that you can buy

here.

 

 However, we decided that we had to try it anyway.

 

We filled the cups with sprite and gummy bears, and put in the freezer over night.

And, this is what they look like when they are gone.

My husband tried them, he said the gummy bears become a weird consistancy

but overall the popsicles taste good. :) So there ya go.

Jello Pinwheels

Another fun recipe for kids!

Jello Pinwheels!

 

The Recipe:

 1 pkg. (3 oz.) JELL-O, any flavor
  1/2 cup warm water

  1 & 1/2 cups Mini Marshmallows

  Stir jello and water in medium microwaveable bowl. Microwave on HIGH 1-1/2 min.;

 stir until jello is completely dissolved.
Stir in marshmallows.

 Microwave on HIGH 1 min. or until marshmallows are partially melted. Stir with whisk until marshmallows are completely melted. Pour into 8- or 9-inch square pan sprayed with cooking spray. Refrigerate 45 min. or until set. Run sharp knife around edges of pan to loosen jello from pan. Starting at the edge, roll jello tightly. Cut into 1/2-inch slices using fishing line or thread. Refrigerate, covered, until ready to serve.

 

How Many Feet?

Today's bath was inspired by Dr. Seuss' book: The Foot Book.

I dyed the water orange, cut out feet on which I wrote

 the name of each color & numbered the toes and painted a quote

from the book on the wall.

We read the story, then I had her match the feet.

We counted the toes and said the colors out loud.

When she got out we also counted her toes, and painted her toe nails. :)

 

Snow...in summer??

It LOOKS like Snow.... it FEELS like Snow...

but wait! It's May!

It's actually baking soda with a bit of water mixed it.

Place it in the freezer for a few hours and it gets icy cold...

feels like snow, freezy and crunchy! 

Glowing Color Eruptions!

 

Fill a few cups with baking soda, mixed with a little bit of neon paint.

Put vinegar in a pitcher or measuring cup with spout.

(*Be sure to do this inside of a small bin to catch the overflow.*)

Go into a dark room, turn on a black light and let the fun begin!

(*A black light is necessary for this to glow.*)

 

 

 

 

She really enjoyed this, and kept pouring vinegar in the cups until it was gone! :)

Fun lunch idea

Today K had a hot dog "occa-puss" for lunch! lol. Very easy to make. First slice part of hot dog in half, then make 3 more slices to make 8 legs. You can use ketchup or mustard to add a face, or if your little one(s) is like mine, use Easy cheese!

TP roll binoculars

Today we made tp roll binoculars! Very easy & fun, and she just loves exploring with them!

 

Just tape 2 tp rolls together, attach string or ribbon and let them decorate with markers,

crayons, stickers, etc!

lol this kid cracks me up!!

Ball pit bath

Need a quick idea for a fun bath?

Repurpose those ball pit balls for a fun bath!!

K loved this, and asks for ball pit baths once a week!!

 

Glowing Slime!

Today we made slime, using our regular recipe.

(1 cup Elmers glue, 1 cup liquid starch)

But this time, I divided it and added neon paint to it.

Then we took it into a dark room,

turned on the black light & enjoyed the glowing slime!

 

Here is the slime, when she was done playing.

All of the colors mixed together, under the black light.

(*A black light is needed for this to glow. They sell at Walmart for only $10)

April Showers bring May flowers!

Another quick & easy idea!

I cut the umbrella, rain drops and flowers from felt,

then added blue color to the water.

I taught her the saying "April Showers bring May flowers".

We even used the shower head a little. :)

 

Rain in a cup and jar for kids

Fill a cup 3/4 way with water, then top with shaving cream to make

"clouds".  Drop food color on the top, until it is so heavy that is starts to "rain"

into the cups/jars.

 

Color sorting and Painting with M & M's

We like to sort things by color to help K learn her

colors. Today, we chose M & M's. :) I cut circles out of

construction paper to match the colors of the m & m's and taped

them to the bottom of our small clear cups that we use for everything.

 

 Then she sorted them. I was surprised how easy this was for her.

 

Then I remembered something that happened a few weeks ago.

K had a few m's on a paper plate outside and it started raining. When it rained,

the colors started coming off of the m's onto the paper plate. Which gave me this idea...

Add water to the m's and see if we could paint with the colors! 

So, after she was done sorting, we added a little water. (Just enough to cover the m's.)

Then we stirred them all up.

And we got this really pretty "paint"!

And here is what the "paint" looks like on paper!

We will definitely be doing this again!!

Beach Bath in March!

This cold weather is really putting us in the mood for

a nice, warm beach day!! We found a way to bring the beach to us!

I painted a sun and beach ball on the wall, turned the heat up in the

bathroom a bit, dug out her bathing suit, beach toys and the fun began.

I made "Beach Goop" by mixing water with baking soda, Epsom salt, food color

and shaving cream. Then filled it with just enough water and coloring for the water to reach the 'beach'. This was one of her favorite baths!!

 

Stained Glass (aka broken glass) Jello snacks

While browsing the internet for fun dessert ideas, I

came across this one on the Kraft website. I thought it looked fun/easy/tasty and

I was right! :) We will definitely be making this a lot!

*Recipe at the bottom of this post.*

 

 

 

Pick 4 colors of jell-o. Mix each box with 1 cup boiling water. DO NOT ADD any cold water. Pour into containers and refrigerate over night. Cut into small blocks and carefully mix together in a 9 x 13 dish. Pour 2 packets of unflavored gelatin (Knox) into 1/2 cup cold water and let sit 3 minutes. Add 1 and 1/2 cups of boiling water and stir until dissolved, about 2 minutes. Pour in one can of sweetened condensed milk and mix until dissolved. Chill in fridge about 20 min. Pour over jell-o squares and refrigerate over night. Cut into squares and serve.

TP roll Bird feeder

Today we made bird feeders with tp rolls!

Very easy! Tie some twine or string through the tube.

Slather the tube with peanut butter (or Crisco if allergic!),

then roll in bird seed!
